The thirteenth annual meeting of the Catholic Diocesan Archivists of Australia (CDAA) was recently held in Sydney, hosted by the Archdiocese of Sydney.

The theme for this year’s meeting was ‘Canon Law and Archives’ and the group participated in workshops focusing on Canon Law requirements. They also visited the recently opened Sydney Archdiocesan Archives as part of their two day meeting.

Bishop Terry Brady, Auxiliary Bishop of Sydney, attended this year’s conference.

The CDAA, which meets with the support of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, provides an opportunity for networking and contact between the archivists of Australian Catholic dioceses.

Participating in this year’s meeting were representatives from the Archdioceses of Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Goulburn, and Hobart; the Dioceses of Ballarat, Darwin, Lismore, Parramatta, Rockhampton, Sandhurst, Toowoomba, Townsville, Wagga Wagga and Wollongong; the Syro-Malabar Diocese of St Paul the Apostle; and the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference.

Denis Conor is stepping aside as convener after two years. Donna Bailey from the Diocese of Sandhurst was selected to fill the role of convener.
